Both clubs agree that on the whole last night's match between Whitby Town and Whitby Fishermen's Society was a success, with the game being played in a friendly and competitive manner.
Unfortunately, there was one incident towards the end of the match that both clubs are united on and have agreed to release this joint statement on.
The Fishermen's player in question was a trialist and this was his first, and ultimately last game for the club.
The swift action taken by Whitby Fishermen's Society is appreciated by all, and Whitby Town Football Club whole-heartedly agree that the actions of that individual does by no means represent Whitby Fishermen's.
Both clubs have always worked well together and we will continue to do so in the future.
We are all united against racism and will continue to ensure that it is rooted out of the game.
