The Board of Directors recognise and fully understand the frustration felt by supporters following the recent departure of several First Team players from the Towbar Express Stadium.
In a number of cases, these players were not under contract and, having developed into key members of the squad, were subsequently approached by other clubs. Under current regulations, those clubs are entitled to submit a seven-day notice of approach, after which the player is free to make a final decision regarding their future.
While the club always strives to retain its strongest possible squad, placing all First Team players on contracts is not financially sustainable at this time.
The club continues to face significant financial challenges following a difficult season, which included disappointing runs in both the Emirates FA Cup and Isuzu FA Trophy, as well as the impact of postponed home fixtures and reduced attendances.
It is important to stress that adopting a policy of contracting every player could have placed the longer-term future of the football club at serious risk. The Board remains committed to managing the club responsibly to ensure its continued existence, while working to rebuild a competitive squad for the future.
The club thanks its supporters for their continued backing and understanding during this challenging period.
