Coming To Town: Alfreton Town

Paul Connolly17 May - 15:00

We take a look at our new opponents in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division, this time focusing on Alfreton Town...

Last season
It was a disappointing season that ultimately ended an 11 year spell in the National League North for the Reds, meaning a return to the Northern Premier League Premier Division for the first time since the 2003/04 season.

Alfreton finished the season 22nd, with a 3-3 draw with Curzon Ashton sealing the fate of both sides on the final day of the season.

In the dugout
Jake Buxton will lead Alfreton Town again this season, having agreed a new deal in May, and will be assisted by Ben Turner.

The former Derby County defender took the hotseat in October 2025, having previously managed Burton Albion, but couldn't prevent the club's relegation from the National League North.

Where do they play?
The Reds play at the 3,600 capacity Solana Stadium, having been based there since it was built in 1959.

Have we met before?
Our last meeting with Alfreton Town came in the FA Cup, in 2005, when The Reds knocked David Logan's Whitby side out of the FA Cup at the Third Qualifying Round.

We have also met on two occasions in the league - both in 2003/04 - with Alfreton winning both encounters.
