This event will be giving children the opportunity to enjoy three unforgettable days of hands-on forensic science, STEM learning and crime scene investigation right here on the Yorkshire coast.
Led by a former forensic scientist and experienced STEM educator, the programme has been designed to inspire curiosity, build confidence and make learning genuinely exciting. Young investigators will have the chance to step into the shoes of a real Crime Scene Investigator, using professional forensic techniques and equipment to examine clues, solve mysteries and uncover evidence.
Throughout the three-day experience, children will take part in a variety of engaging activities, from analysing fingerprints and investigating footprints to tackling fascinating CSI challenges and even forensic-themed LEGO tasks. Every activity has been carefully designed to combine science, technology, engineering and mathematics with creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
What makes the CSI Summer School particularly special is its ability to disguise learning as fun. While children are busy investigating mock crime scenes and solving puzzles, they will also be developing critical thinking skills, scientific knowledge and confidence in their own abilities. It is an immersive experience that encourages young minds to ask questions, think differently and discover how science is used in the real world.
The CSI Summer School will take place in Turnbull's Bar on 19th, 20th and 21st August 2026 and is open to children aged 8 to 16 years. Running from 9.30am until 3.30pm each day, the programme offers three days of immersive forensic science and STEM activities, with wrap-around care available from 8.30am until 5.30pm for added convenience.
Delivered by a qualified forensic scientist, the course gives young people the opportunity to develop real CSI skills through practical, hands-on investigations.
Places are expected to be in high demand, with similar CSI Summer School events in Scarborough regularly selling out. Parents interested in securing a place are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
