Hawkins Declines New Deal Ahead of 2026/27 Season

Liam Ryder7 May - 07:00

Whitby Town Football Club can confirm that midfielder Lewis Hawkins has declined an offer to extend his stay at the Towbar Express Stadium.

Hawkins, who has been a key figure for the Seasiders since rejoining the club in 2020, informed the club of his decision following discussions regarding a new contract. His most recent deal expired at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

An experienced central midfielder, Hawkins has made a significant contribution during his time with Whitby Town, becoming a consistent and influential presence in the middle of the park. Known for his leadership, composure on the ball and work rate, he has played an important role both on and off the pitch throughout his spell with the club.

Having progressed through the ranks at Hartlepool United and gone on to represent a number of clubs including Spennymoor Town, Blyth Spartans and York City, Hawkins brought valuable experience when he joined the Seasiders and quickly established himself as a senior member of the squad.

Everyone at Whitby Town would like to place on record their thanks to Lewis for his commitment, professionalism and contribution during his time at the club. He leaves with the best wishes of all connected with the Seasiders for the next stage of his career.

Further updates regarding the club’s retained list and preparations for the 2026/27 season will be communicated in due course.
