Hawkins Issues Apology and Urges Unity Ahead of Crucial Run-In

Liam Ryder7 Apr - 19:30

Lewis Hawkins has issued a sincere apology following his reaction to being substituted during Monday’s fixture against Morpeth Town.

He has acknowledged that his conduct fell short of the standards he sets for himself and the club.

Speaking after the incident, Hawkins was quick to address the situation and take full responsibility.

"Everyone is probably aware of what happened in Monday's game against Morpeth. I just wanted to apologise for the way I reacted."

The midfielder confirmed that discussions took place after the match with the management team, and he recognises his actions were out of character.

"Me, Bully and Jason spoke about the way I reacted after the game. It was disrespectful and out of character for me to do that."

Hawkins explained that his reaction was driven by frustration in the moment, with emotions running high as the game unfolded.

"It was heat of the moment and frustration with the way the game had gone."

Following those conversations, the matter has now been resolved internally, with the focus firmly shifting back to the team’s objectives for the remainder of the season.

"We've spoken and put it behind us and we now have three massive games left to get ourselves out of the situation. We've all got to stick together."

He also reiterated his apology to supporters and everyone connected with the club, while stressing the squad’s determination to respond positively on the pitch.

"I'll say it again. I apologise to the fans and everyone involved with the football club. We'll show fight and do our best to get ourselves out of it."
