Town head to the home of Hyde United after going three games unbeaten.
But progress to Third Round Qualifying of the FA Cup is at stage this weekend, and Liddle hopes to have two key players back available to him in the not too distant future.
The Whitby manager spoke to the Whitby Town Media Team ahead of the trip to face managerless Hyde United.
Lewis Hawkins
"Hawksy has had a tough couple of weeks since amazingly coming through the whole FC United of Manchester game.
"Before half-time in that game, he got a whack to his back causing a whiplash moment to his neck and back.
"For the second half and post-game, he suffered painful nerve damage throughout his arms and, after tests, he was shown to have suffered multiple disc and nerve damage, otherwise known as herniated discs.
"The good news is he's now not in pain and once the general back stiffness he still has, and the discs recover, he'll be free to join back in after the doctors' say so."
Layton Watts
"Layton has played the most part of the season through a niggly MCL (ligament on the inside of the knee) injury.
"Unfortunately, during a training session a few weeks ago, he aggravated this further and has since been going through the necessary tests, treatment, and rehab to see him back in action as soon as possible.
"I'm hoping he'll be available come to the end of September or, at worst, the beginning of October."
