Scampi Skipper signs up for Mascot Gold Cup!

Scampi Skipper signs up for Mascot Gold Cup!

Liam Ryder23 Mar - 10:00

Whitby Town mascot Scampi Skipper is looking to batter the opposition when he heads to Wetherby Races this April!

Whitby Town fans can support Scampi Skipper at Wetherby Races in April, when he takes part in the Mascot Gold Cup, on Sunday 27th April.

With the club raising funds to carry out vital pitch works, Scampi decided to enter the race to raise money - and fans can donate to support his efforts here.

The pitch renovation project is a costly process to complete, and the club are unable to fund this along without donations from the wider community.

Every penny raised will go towards a full renovation of the pitch in a bid to ensure the Seasiders' squad and the Whitby community have an immaculate surface to play football on throughout the season, no matter what the British weather brings.

Failure to complete this large-scale renovation could result in a disruptive season similar to the one saw in 2023/24 where twelve fixtures had to be postponed due to poor weather conditions. This not only led to a fixture backlog, but also put the club's future at severe threat financially.

As part of the event, we will also be supporting Whitby Lobster Hatchery. Based at the heart of Whitby's Harbour, they aim to release 1,000 Lobsters back into their natural habitat. To support their fantastic ongoing work, please donate here.

The Mascot Gold Cup event at Wetherby Racecourse set the Guinness World Record for the 'Most Mascots in a Race' in 2015 and continues to be a fun-filled day out for all the family.

Mascots first take part in the Mascot Parade in the official parade ring where punters can place their bets on their favourites. Several prizes are up for grabs during the Mascot Parade, including the coveted ‘Best Mascot on Parade’.

Should there be sufficient interest, the club will be providing transport to and from the event. Please email scottbooth@whitbytownfc.com to register your initial interest.
