The young defender arrives at the Towbar Express Stadium as part of his ongoing development within Sunderland’s highly-regarded Scholarship system, which competes at Category One level in England’s youth structure.

Holcroft, an England youth international, primarily operates as a centre-back, while also offering versatility across the defensive line.

The 18-year-old has featured for Sunderland’s Under-18 and Under-21 sides, gaining valuable experience in the U18 Premier League and Premier League 2 competitions.

A second-year scholar on Wearside, Holcroft has been part of a strong Under-21 group and has earned praise for his defensive performances, contributing to a number of positive results during the 2025/26 campaign.

The move to Whitby Town provides the defender with an opportunity to gain senior football experience, continuing his progression in a competitive environment.
