Seasiders Secure Signing of Promising Stan Hewitt

Liam Ryder21 May - 15:30

Whitby Town is delighted to announce the signing of Stan Hewitt following his departure from Bridlington Town.

The highly-rated youngster, who made a name for himself as a left wing-back at Bridlington, joins the Seasiders after spending more than a decade within Hull City academy system, progressing through the youth ranks and gaining valuable senior experience in the Northern Premier League Division One East, initially on loan.

Hewitt arrives at the Towbar Express Stadium on a one-year contract, plus an extension option, with a reputation for hard work, pace and versatility. During his time with Bridlington Town, he continued his development in senior football and impressed with his direct style and willingness to take defenders on when going forwards.

The 19-year-old recently left Hull City following the conclusion of his extended scholarship programme, having been with the club since 2015.

Whitby Town manager Lee Bullock said: "Stan is a powerful young lad who wants to come for the right reasons in that he wants to progress his football career by playing at a good level consistently.

"He's strong, fit, powerful and fast, and he'll bring us good balance on the left-hand side of the pitch. I think the supporters will enjoy watching him.

"He's the first new official incoming of what's going to be a busy summer."

Speaking after completing the move, Hewitt said: "Denny (Ingram) has put that confidence in me, and I didn't have any questions over whether I was signing or not. I think it was a no brainer really.

"Hopefully over the next season I can show why Denny and the gaffer have put that faith in me."

Everyone at Whitby Town would like to welcome Stan to the club and wish him every success in a Seasiders shirt.
