Matthew Tymon was on target twice as Whitby Town put in a convincing showing in their BetVictor Northern Premier game against Lancaster City on Tuesday night.
This was a fifth win a row for the Seasiders and it moved them to within two points of the play-off positions with games in hand.
Striker, Tymon was delighted that his team could come away with the three points as they now start to look up the table.
"We spoke about bringing heart and desire to the game," said Tymon.
"It was pretty much a play-off game and it's given us a massive platform to build on and our confidence is running high with five wins in five.
"It was a magnificent win to go to Lancaster and pick up the three points as it's a very difficult place to go."
Some may have viewed this win as a massive statement to the rest of the league, however Tymon admitted that he would rather just focus on playing each game.
He went on to say that he wouldn't mind being considered an underdog for the remainder of the season if it helps Whitby finish in a high position.
"We'd rather just slip under the radar," Tymon said.
"We just want to take each game as it comes and try to pick points up home and away and basically build on that.
"It's a better position than what we were in a few years ago because we've got confidence behind us and there's a good feeling around the dressing room. It's brilliant."
Tymon was very much the key man in the game as he got himself on the target twice to score what turned out to be crucial goals.
His first strike was what some would describe as a poachers goal as he reacted quickest to fire home after Town were initially denied by the goalkeeper.
"I was gutted that Brad (Fewster) didn't tuck it in," admitted the striker.
"Brad was right there after the keeper had saved from my shot but he made a brilliant save to be fair to him.
"I'm just pleased that it fell nicely for myself and I managed to score as every single one of us was fantastic in that first half."
