Whitby Town FC Community Trust Makes First Investment

Whitby Town FC Community Trust Makes First Investment

Liam Ryder22 Jun - 18:00

Whitby Town is delighted to announce the first investment made by the newly established Whitby Town FC Community Trust charity.

Following the pledge made at the club's Centenary Dinner to put money back into the local community, the new charity's inaugural contribution comes in the form of a £750 donation to support Whitby School's upcoming expedition to Cambodia, helping to ensure the life-changing trip can go ahead after unforeseen changes to travel arrangements created additional costs and threatened the viability of the project.

A group of 23 Whitby School students will be travelling to Cambodia with Camps International for a four-week expedition that will provide a unique opportunity to make a positive difference while developing valuable life skills.

During their time in Cambodia, the students will work alongside local communities on sustainable development projects, helping to improve facilities and support initiatives that will have a lasting impact. As well as contributing to meaningful community work, the students will gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia's rich history and culture through a range of educational visits and experiences.

The expedition will also see the students complete their PADI diving qualification, allowing them to develop new skills and confidence while exploring Cambodia's unique marine environment.

The programme has been designed to encourage personal growth, teamwork, cultural understanding and global citizenship, giving participants experiences that will stay with them for years to come.

Whitby Town representative Graeme Hinchliffe said: "At our Centenary Dinner, we made a commitment that the club would continue to strengthen its connection with the community by investing in local people and worthwhile causes. We are delighted that the first contribution from the Whitby Town FC Community Trust will help these young people take part in what promises to be an incredible and life-changing experience.

"Supporting opportunities that help local young people develop skills, broaden their horizons and make a positive impact reflects exactly what the Community Trust was established to achieve."

The donation marks the beginning of the Community Trust's work in supporting projects and initiatives that benefit the people of Whitby and the surrounding area, ensuring that the club's centenary legacy extends far beyond the football pitch.

Anyone wishing to support the work of the Whitby Town FC Community Trust and help fund future community projects and initiatives can obtain further information on making a donation by emailing graeme.hinchliffe@whitbytownfc.com.
