
The 21-year-old joins the club after catching the eye of the management team throughout pre-season, where his pace, athleticism and versatility made a strong impression both in training and during match action.
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Phuthi came through the academy system at Sheffield Wednesday after moving to England as a youngster. He progressed through the Owls' youth ranks before signing his first professional contract in August 2023.
He went on to make his senior debut for Sheffield Wednesday against Coventry City during the 2023/24 season and also represented the club in the FA Cup.
A dynamic player capable of operating in a number of positions, Phuthi has featured as a winger, wing-back and full-back during his career to date. He has also represented Zimbabwe at senior international level, making his debut in 2024.
Following spells with Eastbourne Borough and Cleethorpes Town, Phuthi arrives at the Towbar Express Stadium eager to continue his development and make an impact in the Pitching In Northern Premier League.
Manager Lee Bullock said: "Joey has done really well throughout pre-season and has earned this opportunity. He brings energy, pace and quality to the squad, and we've been impressed with both his attitude and willingness to learn. Speaking after completing the move, Phuthi said: "I'm happy to have signed and I'm happy to push on. It's a good group of boys and the staff and fans have been really welcoming. It's nice when you come into a place and they make you feel welcome straight away."
