The project forms part of a nationwide programme of safety improvements being implemented across the National League System following the Football Association's introduction of new pitch perimeter regulations. The updated criteria no longer permit solid brick, breeze block or concrete barriers around pitches and were introduced following a comprehensive safety review into pitchside infrastructure.

The work at the Towbar Express Stadium will be carried out in phases over the coming weeks to ensure disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. Supporters can be assured that all scheduled fixtures will go ahead as planned, with no impact on the club's matchday calendar.

The replacement programme has been fully funded through the Premier League Stadium Fund, which is supporting clubs across the National League System in meeting the new safety requirements. The only financial contribution required from Whitby Town relates to the replacement of the wooden fencing at the Whitby Seafoods End, which will be upgraded to match the style and appearance of the fencing which will be put in place around the remainder of the stadium.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to the Premier League Stadium Fund for its support in delivering these important improvements. While the works will enhance the overall appearance of the ground, their primary purpose is to ensure the Towbar Express Stadium continues to meet the latest safety standards for players, officials and supporters alike.

The club would also like to reassure all pitchside advertising board holders that, where boards need to be temporarily removed to facilitate the works or on matchdays, they will be reinstated in their original positions as soon as possible following the completion of the relevant phase of the project.
