The Seasiders travelled to Greater Manchester looking to build momentum and, despite falling behind in the first half, responded superbly after the break to secure an excellent win.

Hyde started brightly and threatened early through Dan Martin, but Leon Parker was alert to make a crucial block inside the opening quarter of an hour to keep the scores level.

Despite not threatening Jack Norton in the Whitby goal too much, Hyde did create efforts from distance which the Blues had to be aware of. Max McCarthy's dangerous curling effort was headed behind by Alex White midway through the first half.

The home side broke the deadlock after 32 minutes in unusual fashion. Dan Gardner swung a corner into the penalty area and the ball found its way directly into the net, giving Hyde a 1-0 advantage.

Lee Bullock's side responded positively and had two chances to find an equaliser. Joey Phuthi tested Jordan Eastham with a powerful free-kick that the Hyde goalkeeper gathered safely, before Callum Hickman showed excellent footwork on the right before delivering a cross towards Stuart Rose. Rose was unable to make contact, but the loose ball fell to Parker, whose strike cleared the crossbar.

Despite Whitby's efforts, Hyde carried their slender lead into the interval.

Whatever was said in the away dressing room at half-time had the desired effect. Whitby emerged with renewed energy and purpose, taking control of proceedings as they pushed for a route back into the game.

The equaliser arrived less than two minutes in to the second half and set up a much more convincing performance in the second 45 minutes, sparking jubilant celebrations among the travelling supporters. Phuthi stepped up and whipped an inch-perfect corner straight into the net, catching everyone out and bringing Whitby level in spectacular fashion.

The visitors' persistence and attacking intent were finally rewarded as they turned the contest on its head and seized control of the match. Hickman refused to give Hyde's defence a moment's peace when chasing down a forward ball, harrying his man into a mistake before seizing possession inside the area. The forward then shifted onto his left foot and rifled an unstoppable strike beyond Eastham and into the far corner to put Whitby ahead.

With Hyde forced to chase the game, Whitby remained disciplined defensively while continuing to pose a threat on the counter attack. The back line stood firm whenever called upon, ensuring the hosts were unable to generate sustained pressure in search of an equaliser.

As the game moved into stoppage time, Whitby put the result beyond doubt with a third goal that prompted an outpouring of emotion from players, staff and supporters alike. Phuthi delivered a dangerous cross towards the back post where Rose rose highest to meet it. Rose's header forced a reaction save from Jordan Eastham, but despite getting a hand to the effort, the Hyde goalkeeper could only help the ball into the net as Whitby extended their advantage.

The strike capped an outstanding second-half display and ensured there would be no way back for Hyde.

After trailing at the break, the Seasiders showed tremendous character, resilience and quality to overturn the deficit and claim all three points. It was a performance full of determination and attacking intent, providing the perfect response and giving everyone connected with the club plenty of reasons for optimism heading into the next fixture on Saturday 26th September in the FA Trophy, with the draw being made on Monday lunchtime.
