Whitby Town claimed a narrow 2-1 victory at home to Stafford Rangers in a game which was in doubt right until the last minute on Saturday afternoon.
It took a lengthy pitch inspection from referee, Glen Hart to decide whether or not the game would go ahead but he announced that he was happy for the match to be played.
Despite the conditions, Town managed to get themselves over the line and claim a vital three points against the bottom side in the BetVictor Northern Premier.
The Blues took the lead on 25 minutes as a neat passing move saw the ball find its way to Matthew Tymon who was able to roll the ball home against a stranded Jonathon Brown.
Their lead was doubled five minutes before half-time when Paul Blackett went over the outstretched leg of a Stafford defender. It would be Blackett to step up and fire his spot-kick down the middle.
Rangers got themselves back into the game on 79 minutes as a free-kick from distance got caught by the wind before being headed beyond Shane Bland by Berti Diau.
Despite a late surge from the visitors, Chris Hardy's side managed to hang on and will now hope to face Radcliffe at home on Tuesday night in search of another victory.
