A brace from Jacob Hazel, as well as a well-taken strike from Marcus Giles ensured that the Blues returned to Yorkshire with all three points despite them conceding their first goal of the season.
Whitby took the lead with one of their first attacks of the game on 25 minutes when Giles hit a tame effort which may have been heading over to the goal-line anyway, but Hazel made sure when he saw he was onside and he tapped the ball into the back of the net.
The hosts responded well though and equalised just two minutes later through Liam Tomsett who fired home beyond Shane Bland from close range at the second time of asking.
But Town didn’t let their heads drop after conceding when Giles got onto the end of an excellent ball into the box from Nathan Dyer, and he finished with a superb first-time effort beyond Gregory Hartley.
The Seasiders then made sure of the points 13 minutes into the second half when Giles picked up on a loose ball in midfield before playing Hazel through on goal.
He looked Hartley in the eyes before showing his class by bending the ball around the Ashton keeper for 3-1.
The Robins never really looked like troubling Whitby goalkeeper Bland in the second half and Whitby claimed their third win in their opening four matches of the campaign.
