Strikes from Soni Fergus, Bradley Fewster and Priestley Griffiths earned Whitby Town an impressive victory against top of the table Matlock Town.
The Seasiders took the lead after just three minutes when Fergus - recently recalled from his loan spell at Pickering Town - drilled home inside the area after the home side failed to clear their lines.
Whitby took the game to their opponents who did little to back up their status as league leaders and doubled their lead midway through the first half when Fewster latched onto a loose back-pass before slotting through the legs of Shaun Rowley.
Having been pegged back before half-time thanks to Jerome Greaves' header, Whitby continued to be in the ascendy to get more goals and did so with 20 minutes to play.
Town man Griffiths was gifted possession by Rowney who had the simple task of curling the ball into the unguarded net from around 30 yards out.
Jesurun Uchegbulam's late goal did give Whitby something to worry about with the clock ticking down but their defence held on for the three points. The 3-2 scoreline flattered Matlock in truth.
Whitby could easily have scored more throughout the 90 minutes with Jacob Hazel having a couple of half-chances in the opening 45 minutes, before Jake Hackett, Harry Green and Marcus Giles all went close in the second half.
The closing stages were always going to be a test of Whitby's game management, and they did just what was required of them as they restricted the below-par home side to very little in stoppage time.
