After Fewster's opener, Matthew Hudson's red card for Bamber Bridge was undoubtedly a key moment in the match with the visitors putting striker Paul Dawson in goal but the Seasiders made their numerical advantage count in comfortable style.
Town had started well and got their opener in the 12th minute when a ball over the top from Jassem Sukar found Fewster who had the strength to turn and fire home on his left foot.
The 13th minute saw Josh MacDonald call Hudson into action, before he was sent off shortly after for making a save with his hands outside the area.
The resulting free kick from Jacob Hazel was just wide of the post. Bamber Bridge didn't crumble though and Shane Bland saved well from Callum Spooner down the other end.
Whitby thought they had doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Fewster tapped the ball home from close range but he was denied by the offside flag.
Town created another good chance eight minutes later, Harry Green firing over the bar when leaning back after a pass from MacDonald.
In the 44th minute, Rhys Turner drilled an effort just wide of Bland's post before Jassem Sukar's cross/shot marginally went over the crossbar.
Rowe got Whitby's second shortly after the break. A Sukar corner found the head of Rowe, who was making his 100th appearance for the club, and he headed home relatively unchallenged.
It could have been three in the 55th minute, Hazel this time being caught offside after Priestley Griffiths' pass before both Bland and makeshift keeper Dawson made comfortable saves from Turner and Fewster respectively.
Fewster glanced a header wide in the 69th minute and Rowe could have had his second shortly after but he headed into the grateful hands of Dawson on this occasion.
With the clock ticking down, Dawson looked like a regular shot-stopper, saving brilliantly from substitute Marcus Giles before the Whitby forward was sent off after challenging for the ball with Dawson.
