Rivers made over 150 appearances in National League North for Darlington between 2019 and 2025. He arrived at the Towbar Express Stadium in May 2025.

Born in Spennymoor, Rivers spent time on Middlesbrough's books before joining Whitley Bay in 2013 and then Blyth Spartans a year later.

His impressive performances at Croft Park caught the attention of EFL side Blackpool, whom he joined in 2015.

After a return to Blyth in 2016/17 as they claimed the Northern Premier League Premier Division title, Rivers went on to become a fan favourite at Darlington.
