Michael Woods is one of Whitby Town’s most experienced and influential midfielders, bringing quality, leadership and a wealth of professional experience to the heart of the Seasiders’ engine room.

The York‑born midfielder began his career in the youth ranks at Leeds United and Chelsea, later developing into a seasoned campaigner with clubs including Hartlepool United, Harrogate Town, Dover Athletic, York City and South Shields before joining Whitby Town in February 2025.

A dependable presence in central midfield, Woods combines intelligent passing, positional awareness and a strong understanding of the game to influence matches both defensively and going forward.

He made an instant impact on his Whitby debut by scoring a crucial late winner at Leek Town and has continued to contribute goals and leadership across the season.

Woods' vast experience and professionalism are invaluable assets for the Seasiders as they compete in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division, and his presence helps guide Whitby’s younger players on and off the pitch.
