Biography
Frankie Whelan is a key figure in Whitby Town’s defence, bringing composure, technical ability and leadership to the heart of the back‑line.The centre-back joined the Seasiders in summer 2024 following his release from Middlesbrough, where he progressed through the youth ranks and developed his ball‑playing skills before making the step into senior men’s football.
In his debut campaign at the Towbar Express Stadium, Frankie quickly established himself as a reliable centre‑half, making 34 appearances and scoring his first goal in a memorable 4‑1 win over Mickleover. His consistent performances earned him the Players’ Player of the Season award, underlining his importance to the squad.
Comfortable on the ball and strong in the air, Frankie combines defensive solidity with the ability to initiate attacks from the back. He remains a vital part of Whitby Town’s plans as the club pushes forward in league and cup competitions.
